Music is a powerful tool to enhance the mood and impact of your content.

Sam's Club Creator Team

As a creator, music is a powerful tool to enhance the mood and impact of your content. Whether you're creating videos for TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook, selecting the right music can take it to the next level. Here’s a breakdown on how to find and select songs for your posts.

TikTok: Royalty-Free Music Library

To avoid copyright infringement or licensing fees that’ll cost you money and more (read: posting power, your account, and worse), you’re going to need to use the TikTok music library. This hub includes popular tracks and lesser-known songs to make it easy to find music that matches your content.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to searching for royalty-free music on TikTok:
  1. Open the TikTok app on your mobile device.
  2. Click on the plus sign (+) at the bottom of the screen to create a new video.
  3. Choose the "Sounds" option at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Search for a particular song or artist that you're interested in using, and then click on the "Filters" option.
  5. Under "Filters", select "Royalty Free" to filter your search results to only show songs that are available for commercial use without needing to pay additional royalties.
  6. You can then preview and select the royalty-free music you want to use in your TikTok video. Make sure to read the terms and conditions of the music to ensure that you are using it properly and following any attribution requirements.

Instagram & Facebook

Meta’s Sound Collection is a great resource to ensure you’re using royalty free music on Instagram. Sound Collection provides access to over 9,000 songs and sounds which are entirely royalty free and safe to use in Facebook Reels and Instagram Stories, including for commercial purposes (such as an ad). You can find this music library by swiping up and selecting the music sticker in Stories, or by tapping the audio icon in the Reels camera.

Facebook:

Similarly to Instagram, Facebook has created Sound Collection- a library of thousands of tracks that you can download and use in the videos you upload to Facebook. Sound Collection is available in Creator Studio and is only accessible from a computer.

Third-Party Platforms

In addition to the above resources, there are several third-party websites and platforms that provide royalty-free music that you can use. We like Epidemic Sound, Artlist, and AudioJungle. You can search for tracks based on genre, mood, or tempo, and download the tracks to use in your posts or stories.

Tips for Selecting the Right Music

When selecting music that makes you stand out, there are a few things to keep in mind:
  1. The music you choose should complement your content. For example, if you're creating a fun and upbeat video, you'll want to choose music that matches that energy.
  2. Think about your target audience: Consider the age range, interests, and demographics of your target audience when selecting music. Choose sounds that your audience will enjoy and connect with.
  3. Make sure it’s royalty free: Check and double check to ensure any music you use is from a commercial free library or is your own original sound!
